I don’t know how many more of these Infrastructure Weeks I can handle.

I don’t know, this last one has been kind of fun: Bevin goes up in smoke, Trump admin ground into dust at the Impeachment hearings, Stone guilty on all counts.

And FOX already has commentators talking about how “witness intimidation is not mentioned in the Constitution.”

Pretty weak on it’s face. And very indicative of a complete lack of principles, integrity, and understanding of law and civics. But it’s Fox, so I repeat myself.

Listening to NPR on the drive out to the country today; they did an extended report on Parnas and Fruman’s Giuliani connection, their involvement in trying to get Yovanovich ousted, the mystery of where their money was and is coming from. Anyone getting a grounding in the background of all this should be coming to an understanding that the Trump administration is involved in multiple criminal conspiracies, and Republicans are doing their damnedest to cover up, support, and further these crimes.

Briefly, from Wiki:

Bruce Ohr is a United States Department of Justice official. A former associate deputy attorney general and former director of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF)…In 2018, Ohr became the subject of right-wing conspiracy theories which alleged that he played an important role in starting the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election.[5][6] The conspiracy theories allege that the origins of the Russia probe were biased and were intended to undermine then-candidate Trump.[6] President Trump and many Republicans have falsely claimed the Steele dossier was used to start the investigation…According to a Republican-led investigation, during the 2016 election, Fusion GPS hired Bruce’s wife, Nellie Ohr, an independent contractor and Russia specialist, to conduct “research and analysis” of Donald Trump.[11][13][14] A comprehensive report done by ABC News disputes that Ohr’s wife worked on the dossier, instead stating that she “was not directly involved in the ‘dossier’ while she worked for Fusion GPS.”[3]

So they now convict Roger Stone of lying and want to jail him for many years to come. Well, what about Crooked Hillary, Comey, Strzok, Page, McCabe, Brennan, Clapper, Shifty Schiff, Ohr & Nellie, Steele & all of the others, including even Mueller himself? Didn’t they lie?….

So you are admitting between the lines that Stone is as guilty as they are…

It’s so weird to see someone who purports to be a genuine attorney asking these wacky questions based on long-debunked conspiracy theories. But this is where the GOP has ended up, in the cul-de-sac of batshit.

They did not want to debunk or even distance themselves from the most outrageous conspiracy theories for fear of alienating their base, but did not notice where it was leading them.

These fantasies are now a matter of RW doctrine and they have to treat them as such.

Update on my knee/back:

I’m working today. I’ve got an ice pack strapped to my knee, it does seem to reduce the pain quite a bit. I am supposed to do some light walking. I had to go back to work but thankfully, I can work at home. THANKFULLY. Driving is still a PITA, for some reason my right leg just wants to lock up when I get behind the wheel.

Anyway, so I’m working today, and I was busy from the moment I logged in until now and just missed that the jury found Roger Stone GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY as the short-fingered vulgarian was engaging in witness intimidation. What a cluster.

And now I’m busy again…momentous things may be happening but tech stuff still breaks.

Bulkshit is my preferred term. Because they’re operating with warehouse sized portions.

They don’t care how it plays, because they think their base will buy it no matter what, and Fox/right wing echo chamber will amplify and reinforce with still more lies and smears.

It’s worked out that way for the GOP so far, but with Trumpworld, even that is now in question as the crimes pile up all around Trump.

This is not exactly a persuasive argument for Trump.

Process crimes are crimes. Period. This relates back to the whole boring/unsexy nonsense spewed after hearings earlier this week. They think this isn’t sufficient to prosecute/impeach?

That’s more bulkshit right there. Process crimes are how the GOP sought to remove Bill Clinton, and they don’t care about how it looks when it comes to going after Democrats, but Trump has done more than just process crimes. He engages in witness tampering in real time during the actual impeachment hearings.

He adds more crimes and counts to his impeachment with each passing day. He’s a one man crime spree.

The shirtless 15-year-old screams as he lies facedown on the kitchen floor of his Tucson group home. He has no arms or legs, so he can’t flee or fight back. But a sheriff’s deputy at least twice his size is crouching over him and pinning him to the ground, using his body weight to restrain the quadruple amputee.
The eight-minute cellphone video has now prompted an internal affairs investigation at the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, according to KOLD, which first published the footage on Thursday.
But Pima County Public Defender Joel Feinman told The Washington Post that the disturbing incident likely wouldn’t have come to light if it weren’t for another teenager at the group home, who recorded the confrontation and then had his head pushed into the wall by deputies.

Schiff could troll Trump by offering up a seat with his nameplate at the table facing the dais… he could even gold plate it just to make Trump feel at home.

Trump is more than capable of testifying under oath. He probably wants to because his fragile ego hates the fact he can’t control the narrative here. His lawyers, such as they are, are probably doing everything imaginable to keep Trump from agreeing to testify.

Because that would absolutely end Trump. He’d fall apart under direct by Goldman, let alone anything offered by Schiff or the rest of the Democrats. The GOP would be powerless at that point, because Trump is irredeemable, but a few would still try.

Even discounting the source*, it’s curious that a “pump-priming” question re impeachment would make much of a difference in a Louisiana gubernatorial race. AFAICT, the Governor of Louisiana has no more influence on the impeachment process than you or I. An Al Green quote (out of context)

I’m concerned that if we don’t impeach this president, he will get reelected.

In context:

“I’m concerned that if we don’t impeach this president, he will get reelected. If we don’t impeach him, he will say he has been vindicated. He will say the Democrats had an overwhelming majority in the House and they didn’t take up impeachment. He will say that we have a constitutional duty to do it if it was there and we didn’t. He will say that he has been vindicated.

“But here’s what I say. We are confronting a constitutional crisis as I speak to you. As I look the people of America in the eye, I’m telling you we have a constitutional crisis. When the chief executive officer, the president of the United States, refuses to comply with subpoenas and says he will order others to do so, this creates a constitutional crisis…(and much more)

Oh, this is delightful:

Even Republicans admitted it was problematic for the president to be criticizing the witness, a respected career diplomat, at the same time she was testifying against him. Still, none would directly criticize the president, and many avoided questions about the tweet altogether.

“It’s not something I would do,” Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Texas), who sits on the House Intelligence Committee, told reporters during a break from the hearing.

Asked if it amounted to witness intimidation, Conaway did not offer a direct answer: “I’m not a lawyer, I’m not familiar with it, but it’s just not something I would do. It’s just not my style.”

Several Republicans on the Intelligence Committee dodged the topic entirely. Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) refused to answer questions about the tweets as he ducked on to the House floor, while Rep. John Ratcliffe (R-Texas) quickly whipped out his cell phone and began talking into it, even though his home screen was visible and there was no call in progress.”

Oh please, oh please, let there be video of this that can be spread across the evening news and the internets.

The California Secretary of State has to publish reports prior to elections. It’s mostly about voter registration numbers and qualified parties and what not. The most recent one was published October 1, found it when I saw a headline saying the special election to replace Katie Hill will take place on primary day. Found these numbers interesting:

Democrats 44.1%
Republicans 23.6%
Independents 26.7%
Third Parties 5.6%

There are now 1.78m more independents and third party voters in the state than there are registered Republicans.

In Orange County, Democrats now outnumber Republicans 34.39-33.9% (that’s about 8,000 voters). Independents in Orange County account for 26.97%. Orange County gained 193k voters since January 2016 which is 5th highest in real numbers of growth (all of the top five counties are LA, San Bernardino, San Diego, Riverside, and Orange County) - and every one of those counties has a Democratic advantage now.

It used to be that to win statewide, a Republican had to win big in those LA suburban/exurban counties. Now it doesn’t look like they could even win them close.

Vindman’s testimony is gonna be lit, considering he stated during his deposition that the July 25th “transcript” leaves out words and even whole portions of the conversation. The WH declaring right now that he’s responsible for the readouts and so any “inaccuracies” in them is only going to further fuel that fire.
